EDT is an interactive text editor built into OpenVMS. Its notable features include three modes (line, keypad, and no keypad) which enables it to be used on hardcopy terminals, recovery journaling, startup command files, and macros. EDT is the only editor that can be used when booting minimal.

Usually, EVE is invoked by default by the EDIT command, so to use EDT, enter EDIT/EDT.

Use the CHANGE command to switch to fullscreen mode. Journal files are saved automatically and have the extension of .JOU. To recover from a journal file, use EDIT/EDT/RECOVER and specify the original file (not the journal file) as the parameter.
